When looking to invest in underfloor heating solutions, make sure you put some time aside to
decide what kind of floor covering you want to have installed on top. Of course, you can stick with
the existing flooring that’s already there but this could be the perfect time to have a change since
you’ll be ripping the floor up anyway to install your heating system.
Luckily, there’s a lot of choice out there for you if you do want to install a new kind of floor covering
at the same time as having your heating network put in. Some believe that the best coverings to use
alongside underfloor heating are ceramic or stone tiles because they’re thermally conductive, which
means that they can transfer heat quickly – so you’ll be feeling warmth on your feet quickly and
efficiently.
Engineered wood is also suitable to use alongside underfloor heating and you don’t have to worry
about the material warping. Laminates, by the same token, are also suitable.
And, of course, you can stick with your trusted carpet if you prefer the feel of fabric beneath your
feet over wood. Make sure that the underlay the carpet fitter uses isn’t a good thermal insulator, as
this will stop the heat from coming up through the carpet as effectively.
Any kind of flooring that boasts good conductivity will work well with this kind of heating system,
because it’ll heat up quicker, be more efficient to run and also give out more heat. Just do a bit of
research to see what’s right for you – or give us a call today and we’ll be able to advise you on what
might be best.
